But, at the moment when you are enjoying perfect life, something has actually been happening and at the time you realized it, there is not way to turn back….
The First Half of My Life (我的前半生) is one of the newest Chinese Drama which I just finished it not long ago. I can tell this drama might be appealed to married women, housewives and those who like slice of life genre. Starring Jin Dong, Ma Yi Li, Yuan Quan, Lei Jia Yin, for me this drama is something worthy to watch. At least, as audience, I learn bit about life.
Story Plot
Alike the drama’s title, The First Half of My Life, so this drama is totally started from The First Half of the female lead life. Luo Zi Jun is full-time pampered wife who is focusing all her energy for taking care her family, living worries-free life without realized her marriage actually in danger. Until one day, suddenly her husband, Chen Jun Sheng who has married her for eight years asked for divorce.
For worries-free Luo Zi Jun, the situation is described alike bolt in the sunny day. Everything just changed drastically and too sudden for her. Luo Zi Jun could not accept the reality, trying her best to beg Chen Jun Sheng to turn back and yet he has determined to leave.
Luo Zi Jun’s best friend, Tang Jing who is workaholic and also fame to be demoness in her work environment, trying her best to help Luo Zi Jun with help of her boyfriend, He Han, together both of them support Luo Zi Jun walked out from her hard time.
From pampered and yet useless Luo Zi Jun who never taste ‘real’ life hardship, divorce, trying to get custody, working and enduring hard times, Luo Zi Jun finally growing up to be independent woman.
Characters – Actors / Actresses
Ma Yi Li (马伊琍) as Luo Zi Jun
At the beginning, Luo Zi Jun character is absolutely hateful and also able to make people who see her to grit teeth because she is really annoying and selfish also too depend no matter toward her husband (Ex-husband) or her best friend and even her best friend’s boyfriend.
As the drama keeps on, my dislike just fading away for Luo Zi Jun due to her changing and growing. As actress, Ma Yi Li gave me such deep impression, portraying Luo Zi Jun this character compare to years ago when she played Pearl Princess III.
Jin Dong (靳东) as He Han
I have bit complicated feeling for He Han character because from outside he looks alike perfect man that dreamt by any woman who likes success, good temperament, cold-head and decisive person especially in work. But, I don’t like the way he settling thing with Tang Jing (either work or personal).
As Actor, again, I don’t have word about Jin Dong because for me, good actor or actress wouldn’t leave any trace of previous character they played before so, when Jin Dong acting as He Han, then the only character I watched is He Han, that’s all.
Yuan Quan (袁泉) as Tang Jing
Tang Jing is strong independent career woman, for her, work is almost like everything in her life. Workaholic is best word to describe her attitude toward her career and she is absolutely the opposite of her best friend, Luo Zi Jun. She dating He Han for almost ten years and both of them just well-known as super couple due to their working capability.
Lei Jia Yin (雷佳音) as Chen Jun Sheng
Chen Jun Sheng can be called as perfect husband due to his timid temperament and also quite attractive man for every women who wish for stable life. He has many good qualities but because of his indecisiveness, for me he can be called as worst man. Since he, often to be torn whether for Lin Ling (third wheel in their marriage / current wife) and Luo Zi Jun (as Ex-wife).
To sum up, I like this drama from all aspects especially its story plot. I don’t mind the actors and actresses (despite of appearance whether they are ugly or good looking), for me, as long as the story is good enough, the actresses and actors can act portraying the character they played and supporting with good filming, then one’s drama deserve to get chance.
If you are looking for something different, dramatic but less melancholy, you may give this drama chance despite of solely telling about love, this drama has portrayed about someone’s growth, friendship, changes, point of views and also life, itself.
