C-drama 1st Impression : Die Now (端腦)

What if the game that you play reward you much money when you won the game as well risking your life when you failed. Die Now / Duan Nao is Chinese drama that adapted from same title manhua wrote by Bi Shui Yu.

Let’s start from the title, Duan Nao (端腦) literally mean telencephalon, part of the brain the right and left side of the cerebrum. This story is started from unknown murder case that actually hidden big secret inside this huge world.

A youngster named Xia Chi who has pure innocent nature, someone smart is one of inference member (Very good in doing deduction, reasoning, logical). One time after inference events, Xia Chi’s girlfriend, Qing Zhi was secretly missing after unintentionally get involved with Ji Lu case (the mysterious murder case). In order to find Qing Zhi, Xia Chi and his best buddy, Meng Qin accidentally get into game that called as Duan Nao. Both of them later joining that game world.

Duan Nao was kind of brand new game for both Xia Chi and Meng Qin because at the moment when they joined Duan Nao, they were entering another world. World that actually no any difference with real world because everything inside world created by Duan Nao just very similar with real world except the people who living inside, they are either NPC or player.

First time when Xia Chi entered the game, everything was foreign for him, even the rules and also how to keep on surviving in game. But, due to his smart brain, fast response and also good logic he passed first entries without difficulty. The GM of the game is also something interested.

But, after first trial, the second game was something tricky for him because he didn’t know principle rules in Duan Nao game. For example, every time player won the game, they would be rewarded with huge amount of money which put into Duan Nao card. Every time player failed in the game, the point would be reduced. The important rule of this game, player shouldn’t lost all their card point because it means they would have to paid it with their life later. To put it simple, if player lost all they points that mean they die. This was happened to Ji Lu case.

My Impression

After watching first episode it gave me kind of feeling watching Detective Conan or something similar to it. The story plot might not everyone likeness, especially the opening. It gave kind like mystic and yet suddenly turned to be suspended then thriller. Whatever the story indeed rush my adrenaline, giving a goose bump, somewhat it excited me to know how the story more and more.

The huge attraction from this drama, for me is its Duan Nao game. On every game that Xia Chi joined, I was wondering what kind of thing would be faced by him. How would he solve every matters in the game and then cleared the game.

As for the actors and actresses, speak frankly I quite surprised to see Melvin Hsia played as support character despite of playing as the hero, Xia Chi or even the second lead, Meng Qin. Well, I don’t mind whoever take the first, second or even supportive role, as long as the actors and actresses are good enough with acting, I do fine.

That’s why I don’t mind Zhu Yuan Bing played as Xia Chi after all his acting doesn’t bad, he has watchable visual too. As I mentioned before, in this drama there are many stars who usually played leading role such as Melvin Hsia, Li Jia Ying,  Zhang Yu Xi and even Wang Su Long (one of singer who sing many songs for drama included this one)

My favorite character so far is Bo Pian (Melvin Hsia) and also the game’s GM. It is so funny whenever watching Bo Pian called Xia Chi as Xiao Ke Ai while the GM kept on calling Xia Chi as Xia Chi Bao Bao =^.^=

So far I have manage to watch until episode 19. The story is getting interesting as well, I do enjoy each and every episodes.

This drama may not everyone cup of tea, in my opinion this drama is so good and worth to get checked. It may not perfect story, wonderful drama but it will give another vibe and also watching experience. At least this what I felt for the drama.

This was the time when Xia Chi had founded the way to save Qing Zhi. He needed Bo Pian help but instead agreed to him, Bo Pien was enjoying teasing Xia Chi by touching his chin and calling him Xiao Ke Ai.
