C-Drama Review: Youth (以你為名的青春)

Reminiscing old days especially when some of us who have left school for many years and entered the work force and become part of the society for some time already. I think this is what Youth offered, a story about group of students who met, spent time together and then experienced many fun and sad moments during the school time together while trying to reach what they have dreamt for their future.

So this story is started from Zheng Da Wei (Xu Jia Wei) who just came back from overseas after many years. He came back to his hometown and looking for his friends and classmates after graduated from school for many years. First place that he paid visit is Xu Yong Xin (Li Mo Zhi)’s breakfast restaurant, after all Xu Yong Xin is his best friend and childhood sweetheart when he was teenager.

Then, the scene started to change and flash back backward many years ago when Zheng Da Wei and Xu Yong Xin were still High School student and how they met Du Ya Xiu (Lian Chen Xiang) and be friend with Gao Yu Xuan (Gai Yue Xi) the school belle and the relationship among them.

Xu Yong Xin is type of hard working student and also perfect example as good role model student who living in such modest and cannot be any ordinary. While Zheng Da Wei just like little sidekick (companion) who kept on following Xu Yong Xin to everywhere. So there was one time when Xu Yong Xin felt boring and then drawing during the class, suddenly the teacher gave her an instruction to give an examination test result to one of her classmate, Du Ya Xiu who almost never come to school and label as bad student.

Du Ya Xiu actually a genius but because he felt school was so boring thus most of his time was spent in game center but since the day Xu Yong Xin came to give him his test paper result, as if he got a reason to come to school and at same time he got interested with Xu Yong Xin characters and also ‘Xu Yong Xin’s Little World’, Xu Yong Xin’s drawing book in which she wrote and drew about her classmates and how she viewed them. For example Gao Yu Xuan which she described as school belle who thought world revolving on her and also she described Du Ya Xiu as dangerous person who should be avoided.

To my surprised I really enjoying this drama although I really didn’t put any high expectation at the time I decided to watch it. After all, the only actor that I recognized only Ou Qu Zhong who played as Xu Yong Xin’s father and actress Yan Jia Le played as Xu Yong Xin’s mother.
