Bai Ling Ling is a happy-go-lucky university student whose favourite past time is to chat online with her best online pal ‘How far is forever’. She had never seen ‘How far is forever’ before although they have been chatting online for the past 5 years, all she knew about him were he is a student at MIT, while she is studying in a local university. Both of them study similar subjects and Bai Ling Ling talked to her online pal almost everything about herself including her ‘psycho’ high expectation genius professor, Yang Lan Han, whom truly drive her nuts with research and projects. Bai Ling Ling gradually falls in love with her online pal and was upset as there is a possibility that their online relationship will never blossom.
Yang Lan Han is an intelligent scholar who went to America to study at a tender age of 16 years old and returns as a Professor before he is even 30 years of age. His lectures were always filled with drooling female students as he is incredibly attractive with his model like features and figure. Almost every girls went crazy over him except Bai Ling Ling, however, never will Bai Ling Ling know that her beloved online pal, ‘How far is forever’ and her ‘psycho’ professor, Yang Lan Han is one and the same person and Yang Lan Han knew all along her identity as his online pal!
Here I am translating the prologue
Afternoon 12 o’clock, outside it was so burning hot, while inside the revolving restaurant it was dark and bit cold. The slow French music flowing, at the same time there was a faint fragrance of Jasmine tea spreading in the air. He and she were sitting face to face, but none of them were talking.
The scenery at outside seeing from the clean window glass seemed to be changing as if the entire world kept on changing, everything was switching, but it was only the man in front of her whom seemed never changed forever.
At the moment when the glass window has been moving half way, showing the glamorous city, Bai Ling Ling was secretly raised her eyelids, by coincidental her eyes met pair of misty eyes, she was chocking by her breathe, quickly she diverted her eyesight to Yang Lan Hang’s necktie. This necktie was given by her to him during the teacher’s day, the pattern is good, the quality is good, but wearing the necktie pairing with his limited edition shirt, it looked bleak just like an ordinary her staying with extraordinary elegant him, not matching.
“Why don’t you continue your study to PhD?” Yang Lan Hang finally opened his mouth, so himself, he spoke straightforward.
Ling Ling took a deep breath, she loosen her tight fingers which locked each other due to her nervousness, she straighten her sitting position, slowly she spoke out the words which she had kept for long time: “Because… I have fallen in love with you. Every day I will think about you, every minutes, every seconds, I will miss you, I afraid… afraid that myself would get trapped deeper and deeper… So that, Teacher Yang, I beg you, let me graduate, please.”
Such sincere words expression, such emotional confession, Yang Lan Hang not even showed a slight of being touch in addition he even showed his cold expression: “If you are really thinking to graduate, I will respect your choice. But, you don’t have to use this kind of way.”
Ling Ling silent for while because she didn’t know how to explain. If earlier she knew, two months ago, she shouldn’t act reckless by ‘confessing’ to him in order to free herself from his ‘demon claw’, and now because of that, even she was telling him the truth, he didn’t believe her.
Yang Lan Hang stared at her deeply, seeing how speechless she became, for once again his cold voice rang: “You want to graduate, you can! Just give me the real reason. Whether it is because you can’t tolerate with my strictness as well my harsh teaching, or it is because of the young and promising supervisor from the Electric company appreciate your talent, and want to hire you with a monthly salary of eight thousand dollars?”
“I…” The real reason? What kind of real reason he wanted to hear? Falling in love with her own teacher, this kind of shameless words she even dared to speak out, it was because she didn’t want lie to him. But, he didn’t believe her.
She was staring at him, inside pair of his eyes, she could see deep disappointing eyesight. Of course she understood, he has been training her, spending so much time, wasting so much effort, he expected her to be his excellent student, but she was repaying him with her betrayal. But what should she do? For Yang Lan Hang, she is not more than his student, without her, he could teach countless students who are better than her. While for her, he has already turned to be her all, she didn’t need other except being able to stay together with him.
“Teacher Yang, I am not lying to you. I am telling you the truth.” Ling Ling smiled, her smile as if dyed with blue sky as well the clear blue ice. “What should I tell you in order to make you believe me? How about I am spending night at your house tonight?”
Once words spoken out, it showed direct result. Yang Lan Hang handsome face was reddened with anger, he twitched his mouth, even the hand that holding a glass trembling for while.
Seeing how Yang Lan Hang who is always calm suddenly angry because of her, Ling Ling down her head with bitter smile, after all she indeed understood him well, she knew how to anger him. And now, he must not let her to continue her PhD, or perhaps he must ask her to disappear directly?
Once she thought about this result, she laughed, the moment she laughed, she could feel her heart as if pierced with needle, it pained: “Teacher Yang, now you must…”
“Fine!” His speaking tone sounded just as he used to be.
Ling Ling’s smile froze on her face, she hard to believe the words came from the mouth of noble Yang Lan Hang. After this shocking moment, she finally understood. Due to Teacher Yang’s IQ, impossible her provocation could deceive his golden eyes? He just did as if playing along with her so that she would raise the stone and hit on herself, as for her, she always foolishly moved the stone.
“Do you dare?” Yang Lan Hang elegantly leaning his body on the chair, his smile looked so vaguely.
“Why do I not dare? Since you are not afraid, what I afraid of?” Ling Ling was pretending to smile more vaguely than him, she waiting to see his shocking expression, and yet he back to he used to be, that gentleman attitude. But, he was putting down the glass which held by his hand, then gently he called the waiter: “Bill.” And then, he turned his face to see her: “We are heading right now.”
Ah! Did he really mean it? No, he wouldn’t! Yang Lan Hang must be tested her!
Took the lesson from last time failure, no matter what would be happened she shouldn’t step back. Go then go, who afraid of who? She didn’t believe that Yang Lan Hang would eat her!
“Let’s go!” She took her bag, walking out from the restaurant.
He rushed when gave the money to the waiter, he didn’t even take the change, but he was following at her back, walking out from the restaurant and then got into same elevator with her. The small space inside gave kind of suffocated feeling, but he with his playful and happy attitude standing beside her, the words that spoken out: “Where do you want to go, my house or hotel?”
The way he spoke to her as if he was asking her where should they go in order to do discussion. She especially wanted to say: I think since we are going to talk about study topic, it is more appropriate to talk it inside your office.
In order to keep the atmosphere, she endured it!
“You…” At this time she was talking with respectfully speaking tone which sounded weird, she then changed her speaking way, “Your house.”
Right the words spoken out, Ling Ling could feel her body heating, her face even hot as burn pan, she glanced at mirror, she realized her white face has turned red, it even redden than cooked crab.
Yang Lan Hang with his smiling eyes staring at her redden face: “My house… it is only a single bed.”
Ugh! Whatever the size of the bed, no problem, because they wouldn’t use it anyway!
