Review Snack: Rebo Sunflower Seeds

It has been so long since the last post reviewing about food and snacks. This time, I would like to share my thoughts about Rebo Sunflower Seeds or in Bahasa is called Kuaci (瓜子) Rebo. To be honest, I am so rarely snacking seeds because this type of snack mostly appear during Chinese New Year celebration in my Chinese-Indonesian culture. There are few types of seeds that easily to spot during Chinese New Year which are Pumpkin seeds either the raw (green color) or the roast (white color) and sunflower seeds. But actually this types of snack can be eaten at anytime and anywhere LOLS. Especially when one feels boring and wanting to kill the time.

For your information, I am not sponsored by the brand, all the products are purchased with my own money and also the review is based on my personal thoughts as well my experienced.

Well, back to the topic, few days ago I purchased Rebo Sunflower seeds through online. To my surprised, Rebo brand has been establishing since 1995 and continuously growing since 2004 until now. Currently the product has four flavors such as Original, Milk, Green Tea and Salted Caramel, each of flavors come with four different sizes, 13gr, 70gr, 150gr and the biggest is 300gr. Mine is 150gr for each flavors and I have tasted all the favors and here what I think about the product.

My two cents
The package
To be honest there is nothing really special about the package of the product because everything just looked so standard, it has Rebo, the brand name which written in big font. They also labeled vit E perhaps to show this snack is categorized as healthy snack.

Taste and flavor
Speak frankly, I can’t choose from four flavors which tasted the best for me. Because I really like all. The original flavor is no any different with normal sunflower seeds that I ever had. Actually, I feel more intrigued with the other flavors. For me, Salted Caramel is the one which has strongest flavor and also the sweet and salt taste stayed longer in the mouth. While milk and green tea have quiet strong scent but it doesn’t has strong taste flavors.

After tasting the product, I realized it has quite high Natrium/sodium to make it simple, it has high salt. The standard amount of serving recommended is 6gr/serving with 25kal which I think it quite high because 150gr means 625kal. I remembered to eat one 150gr at one go which later made me super thirsty and lips felt numb LOLS.

As for price, I think it has competitive price because 150gr cost about IDR 10.5k to 14k (around $0.8 to $1.2) for the same level sunflower seeds products. But personally in my opinion, sunflower seeds snack is little bit expensive compare to peanut snacks in my country.

Although seeds are categorized as healthy snack, again, eating too much also not good.
